Coating types
Plasma polymer films   As far as the material itself is concerned, plasma polymer films have the same structure as plastics (polymers) but are not manufactured by crosslinking liquid or plasticized monomers but by deposition from the gas phase by means of plasma-supported CVD method.

In addition to carbon they also contain hydrogen and often other chemical elements as well. In comparison with amorphous carbon coatings they are relatively soft.

Application examples:
  • Diffusion protection - for example, for PET drink bottles or for plastic fuel tanks
  • Corrosion protection of metals or metal coatings - for example, for reflective coatings in plastic headlight units
  • Anti-adhesive or hydrophilic or hydrophobic properties
  • Friction reduction - for example, for dry sliding bearings
  • Transparent scratch protection.
